How to know if universities accept DET and the scores required

The Duolingo English Test's just six years old by the time this article was published. However, it has gained remarkable credibility from over 4000 universities across the globe, including the top institutions on earth. 

Today, we guide you on how to find out whether your dream university accepts Duolingo English Test certificates or not with just a few simple steps. Besides, you also know how many scores they require test-takers to hold. 

Step 1: Find universities that accept the DET 

Go to the Duolingo English Test official website, move your pointer to “Institutions” and choose “Who accepts the test”. In case you already log in, click “Find universities”.  

It will be easy if DET takers already have some university names in mind. Simply write down the names. For example, we wish to study at Stanford, so we write that name down, and here it is. 

Another example is, let's say, Vancouver Film in Canada. Yes, this university also accepts the DET. 

But what if test-takers haven't got any ideas at which they should study, and test-takers only know the country they want to spend their university lives in? For instance, the US. It would be hard to choose among thousands of schools. 

The matter is your studying purpose. What is your favourite faculty? In this case, you need to consult with local education agents to find out a list of universities allowing you to pursue your chosen career. The next step is to pick the most suitable one with your skills, financial background, and so on.

Another common question students usually ask is whether they can get their Study Visa or Permit with the Duolingo English Test certificates. Let's say it depends on their chosen countries. For example, in 2021, Ireland became the first government to officially accept the Duolingo English Test in visa applications. Step 2: Find scores that the universities require

Once we know Vancouver Film accepts the DET, click its link to check their required scores on their official websites, which will lead you to their Language Requirement page.

Simply scan through, and scroll down if you need to find their Language Requirement details. 

It’s the same as finding other universities’ DET required scores. They may use different words, but you will most of time have your answers in their Language Requirement page.
